• Airport to Hotel: Airport Express train (24 min to Central), taxi (~45 min), or hotel shuttle. The Grand Hyatt is in Wan Chai, a short taxi from Hong Kong Station.

• Jan 1 · HK → Shenzhen: 15 minutes! HSR from HK West Kowloon to Shenzhen Futian. Frequent departures throughout the day.
• Jan 4 · Shenzhen → Guangzhou: ~30–60 minutes from Shenzhen Futian to Guangzhou South. Frequent departures.
• Jan 10 · Guangzhou → HK: Direct HSR Guangzhou→HK West Kowloon (~50 min if available) or via Shenzhen (~1.5 hr total, 1+ hour of train time), then Airport Express (25 min) to HKG.
• Alternative: Fly Guangzhou→Hong Kong instead (~30 min flight) for the departure leg.
• Booking: Book on Trip.com or at West Kowloon station. Tickets open 15 days before departure. We'll coordinate group bookings closer to the date.

• Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all travelers.
• Look for policies that cover: trip cancellation/interruption, medical expenses abroad, emergency evacuation, and lost luggage.
• Providers to consider: Allianz, World Nomads, Travelex, or check your credit card's built-in travel protection.

• Currency: Hong Kong uses HKD (Hong Kong Dollar). Mainland China uses CNY (Renminbi). Have some cash — mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) dominate. Set up Alipay Tour Pass before you go.
• Language: Cantonese in HK, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou; Mandarin everywhere. English is common in HK hotels and tourist areas. Download Google Translate with offline Chinese packs.
• Internet: Pick up a local SIM at HKG airport (China Mobile HK or 3 HK) with China roaming, or rent a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. VPN recommended for accessing Google, Instagram, etc. in mainland China.
• Weather: December–January is winter. HK/SZ/GZ: 15–20°C (60–68°F). Pack layers, a light jacket, and comfortable walking shoes.
• Power: Hong Kong uses UK-style 3-pin plugs (Type G, 220V). Mainland China uses Type A/C/I. Bring a universal adapter.
• Health: Tap water is not drinkable in China. Stick to bottled or boiled water. No specific vaccinations required, but ensure routine vaccines are up to date.
